As well as regular events like Grading, Tournament Training and Senior Classes there are special events and seminars. You'll find details of these and other important information in this Events section (updated 23/02/10).

 

REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS

This coming spring and summer, the regional tournaments will be held (as was the National Qualifiers) at the Rivermead Leisure Centre in Reading. The first tournament of the year is to be on Saturday 17th April, with another on Saturday 10th July.

Tournament Training
Weekly Tournament Training is back on Sundays

Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre is the venue and sessions will run from 17:00-19:00 from this week (28th February) until at least after the National Qualifiers in September

Sessions will be run by the region's top instructors will be attended by students with a wealth of expereince in what competing and winning is all about.

There may also be some J&R practice for qualified officials - non-qualified students will need to attend official J&R Seminars, as will those requiring level upgrades

As with all special GKR classes, students will not be able to use their PTF cards or vouchers, although normal class fees and family discount do still apply.

 

Special Seminars with Sensei Simon Burke
This spring, Sensei Simon will be running a series of special classes around the region
February 27th - Kata and Self Defence Applications
Heyworth Primary School, Haywards Heath (10:30-12:00)
April 18th - "So you want to be a Black Belt?"
Millais School Sports Hall, Horsham (time TBA)

These sessions will be pre-paid (no PTF can be used - but family discounts still apply) - registration forms will be available in class from this week.

 

Next Is Black - 3rd Kyu and Above Training with Sensei Andrew Cook
Training is recommencing with Sensei Andrew Cook and other Senior Regional Instructors from Wednesday 13th January. Classes will be held every other week and will run from 19:30-21:00 and are open to all students from 3rd Kyu up to 1st Dan and beyond.

These classes are essential for learning all you need to know about what being a black belt is all about and are intended to supplement the training you do with your own instructor.

 

 

 


 

Judging & Refereeing Seminars
Next J&R Seminar will be in the New Year

The seminars are usually split into three sections
12:00-15:00
For all students - this will be a theory session & run through of the J&R Manual
Practical workshop for all new students to be joined by those attending for refresher or level upgrade
15:00-16:00
Written test for first-time attendees and those attempting a level upgrade.Certificate presentations

Seminar will cost £15 per person for level one judges, which includes a free Official's Tie - each subsequent attendance is free, as are Level Upgrades
