CRAWLEY & BRIGHTON NON CONTACT OPEN KUMITE - 11TH JULY
Test your tournament skills!
Crawley & Brighton Area will be holding an Open Kumite tournament on Saturday 11th July from 12:00-15:00 at Millais School, Horsham in aid of the World Cup Fund. Entry is £10 per-person.
Unlike a normal GKR Tournament, there are no grade divisions - competitors will be sorted in to age groups (mixed if under 9 yrs old) with bouts being judged according to relative grade - the higher you are, the harder you have to work!
Information and entry forms, to be submitted by 5th July, should be coming to class this week.

MEDAL SUCCESS AT READING- 9TH MAY
Huge success at Reading for TEAM36 - Crawley & Brighton Students came home with over 50 medals, including gold & silver in the Veterans 3rd Kyu & above Kumite (male and female), double gold for Ross Crow in the junior Open and gold for the Junior Kata Team.
Well done to everyone who made the journey and congratulations to everyone who came back with success!
Tournament Training is open to all (normal class fees apply - sorry, no PTF) and continues every Sunday from 18:00-20:00 at the Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill.
A full roll of honour is being drawn up, and the event photgraphers, DE Photo, will be loading up their pictures from the day early this week.
Next Tournament is on 4th July - please keep your diaries free and try to get along there!
BROWN BELT CLASSES WITH SENSEI ANDY WARD
Sensei Andy Ward is reopening fortnightly classes for all students 3rd Kyu (Brown Belt) and above. Classes will held every other Wednesday from 18th February at Rodborough Technology College in Godalming - for further info see our Events section
GKR TOURNAMENTS 2009
The schedule for this year's tournaments has been published. All competitions will take place at Loddon Valley Leisure Centre, Lower Earley, Reading with the next one on July 4th, with the National Qualifiers in September.
CONGRATULATIONS, NEW SHODANS
The final Seminar of the year made it a Merry Christmas for Ross Crow, Amy Lulham and Matt Burke who became the Crawley & Brighton's newest (and youngest) 1st Dan Black Belts - well done to all of you.
It was a double celebration for Ross as he also won the award for the region's Instructor of the Year, with Andy Lulham picking up the award for Most Improved Instructor.

UK NATIONALS - MEDAL SUCCESS
Congratulations to everyone who made the journey up to Sheffield for last weekend's National Championships. The standard of Crawley and Brighton students was, as ever, exceptional proving we are among the best in the country.
There was medal success for Andy Lulham, Jackie Simons and Liam Raven who all won silver and there was bronze for Marc Price, Russ Evans and the Junior Team (Matt Burke, Freddie Lulham, Alex Boot, Chloe Burke and Rhys Woodward) in the kumite.

A big 'thank you' to everyione involved in this year's Fun Day at the Wingspan - the weather was kind to us and the event raised a total in excess of £800 towards the Crawley & Brighton Area tournament fund.

NATIONAL QUALIFIERS - 13TH SEPTEMBER
Well done to everybody who took part in the Reading event - again, Crawley & Brighton came home with an impressive haul of medals (44), and 39 qualifications for the National Finals in Sheffield this November.
